Net Quotes

Really, Bruce?

“Humans are amphibians...half spirit and half animal...as spirits they belong to the eternal world, but as animals they inhabit time. This means that while their spirit can be directed to an eternal object, their bodies, passions, and imaginations are in continual change, for to be in time, means to change. Their nearest approach to constancy, therefore, is undulation--the repeated return to a level from which they repeatedly fall back, a series of troughs and peaks.”

― C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters

"Water is an individual, an animal, and is alive, remove the hydrogen and it is an animal and is alive; the remaining oxygen is also an individual, an animal, and is alive.

Recapitulation: the two individuals combined, constitute a third individual - and yet each continues to be an individual - here was mute Nature explaining the sublime mystery of the Trinity so luminously that even the commonest understanding could comprehend it, whereas many a trained master of words had labored to do it with speech and failed."

- Mark Twain

Okay... One more try here...

Sports Unearth The Most Barbaric Side Of You...

Modern sports seem to unleash the beast within; whether you like to admit it or not. Just try talking to a so-called sportsman and see how he reacts, especially when he doesn't like your question, you or when things have just not gone his way at all in the preceding ''sporting event''...

They attack the referees (granted, many of those deserve it, had it coming and should have never been given the power to decide the outcome of any sporting event ever - but still... we ought to leave the zzzebras alone, no? They must be endangered species - for other reasons, that is!) for to do so (again, attacking the refs - mercilessly!) is effectively giving the masses the wrongest of examples as they do not respect so-called ''authority'' at all pretty darn easy enough already...
And then peeps wonder why it is chaos and outright anarchy everywhere in the world... HA.

But no matter how bad people get to behave at sporting events, one thing is for damn sure: damn good (as in unique) pictures get to be snapped at those darn things - every time!

Hence... Onwards with the barbarism! (Hmm; don`t we actually have a blog devoted to just that, too...?!? Somewhere, out there - in the Blogosphere! In this TLB Prime Network of ours...)

Ripping R.I.P.

Gone too soon - notwithstanding the fact that
he never aged, really...

Wow - they killed Johnny Storm last year - and I never even knew, until now? That shows how much uninterested in fourth-color unevents I am, these days... But let me guess why they dared to commit such an atrocity now: is this the price to pay for daring to have the same actor (Chris Evans) portray both Johnny ªandª Captain America? Once he portrays the latter, the former has to be sacrificed in order to free the thespian up so that he can devote his acting chops now solely and completely to the star-spangled or striped (with chain mail scales!) patriotic hero that was considered so passé, just a short time ago? Never mind that problem now...

Or was this rather the price to pay for another sin: that of having allowed the same actor to portray, back-to-back, a Marvel (Johnny here) and then a DC character (one of the members of The Losers - it is truly needless to name him) to, afterwards, wind up as the Captain of her heart. And, so, Johnny here became tainted beyond repair after this dirtiest form of symbiosis...? There has to be a cleansing, a sacrifice, a bleeding! By that reasoning, Ryan Reynolds will soon be causing the demise of... Deadpool. Not the throwaway character he played in Blade III - but indeed Deadpool; because, after all the trouble in the world in bringing back Hal Jordan, we just know that they won´t be killing Green Lantern again anytime soon...!

Speaking of ol'GL does brings something else to mind - something specific to the four-color world and its view of what death is. Will they ever go through all of these troubles (bringing back Hal Jordan was complicated, I tell ya!) in order to bring back Johnny Storm as well? Personally, I really don't think so...! The old Invaders´ Human Torch can readily step in and fill this gap, methinks. He is the real deal - Johnny was the copy-cat! Johnny was more human, though: and never dealt with the horridness of war, as the other Torch did, so he was easier to identify with for the common reader. Still, to have a walking, talking INCINERATOR to confront the Nazis (one that was cold-blooded to the extreme simply due to the fact that he was really an ANDROID) was truly the great irony and a perfect touch, in the circumstances. The cold cruel world we live in these days is all the more reason to bring him back, back from the repairs department, and insert him into the line-up of the FF to replace Johnny - a line-up that has gone terribly soft in the last decade or so (what terrible timing; but no fault is being imputed here to Rocky Ben Grimm, at all - it is all Stretcho's fault, we all know it! Wait - I think Reed is dead too! It's still his fault, nonetheless!)

But see if I care - heck, I am pretty sure that even Ben Grimm doesn't care anymore either, at this point...! What with the treatment they've been giving him as of late, from what I've heard, why should he care?

Everybody knows what death means in the four-color realm: absolutely nada! Johnny Dead Today - Johnny Back Tomorrow! Yes, he most assuredly will be back, in one form or another... And they`ll be using that insane Cosmic Radiation schema as an excuse for it - with Reed`s blessing...! Ben's sneezing! And Sue`s weeping? Oh joy! Maybe Herbie can be brought back too, now?

Not bad for someone who`s been out of the loop for a while, eh?
Granted, it took me an unusual shopping spree on the web (looking for a wacky t-shirt to add to my collection - one never has enough of those) and a stopover at superherostuff.com to notice this (what - you thought I actually read it on marvel.com or, worse yet, actually read a comic-book again -my first since the naughty nineties- in order to find out about this so-called demise? No way!) but once you know the inside workings of these four-color, two-dimensional machines, you don't need to read any more of it, for it is not rocket science to guess where they are going with all that crap! That's right, Marvel & DC - carry on trivializing death like that, as you've done without a break since the mid-90's ''death'' of Stuporman... Meanwhile, as so many comic-bookie captions used to say, back in the day, at the other end of the cosmos, in the extremely real end of it, people will still be really dying - and not coming back from it three months later as if nothing happened to them.  The real problem is, of course, that none of the bozos who pen this crap care, believe or even know that there was only One Who ever triumphed over Death and came back from the Great Beyond: and it wasn't Superman, it wasn't Aquaman, it wasn't Hawkman and it sure as heck wasn't Forbush-Man - it was Jesus Christ! Only The Christ Ever Came back from the dead!  Nobody else! So stop bringing back dead characters: let them rot in hell!  Or in whatever limbo it is that they are meant to go: being 100% fictional and one-dimensional to boot, in most cases, one should never really a flying hoot where they'll wind up; or how they finally do kick the proverbial bucket...!

Stay Dead, Johnny - stay!
See if I care...

La St-Jean...

Hmm...

Is this the kind of society that took up the likes of SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST as their figurehead (no pun intended at all - ever, ever, ever; John's my favorite saint!) - one that cannot tolerate a mere slap-in-the-face, an uppercut or a bodyslam...!

HÉ, LÀ - LES TARLAS...
SAINT-JEAN LE BAPTISTE
WAS BEHEADED.

If you can't handle violence, you should have chosen another saint - one that's a hell of a lot more of a sissy, like yourselves!

I have no suggestions for you...

BONNE ST-JEAN PAREIL... HEIN

Nude = Beauty? Animal-like, is it?

HA.
A dime a dozen - that is all that they are!
All these naked bimbos - once you've seen one, you've see them all!
They are all the same; so much so, you could swear cloning has been around almost as long as that Ira Levin book made it sound to have been: The Stepford Wives, remember that? Look into it!
Once a single one has bared it all, it is just as if they'd ALL done it, I tell ya! There is nothing left to see - much less anything remotely interesting in their personalities to grasp your attention beyond that...!
This goes at least double (if not a hundred-fold) for the male models some frustrated and/or frigid desperately exasperating housewives loooove to ogle either Friday evenings or on week-ends, at Chippendale's or a cheaper sleazier strip joint! But anyway - back to chicks now!
I remember hearing a pro say it so eloquently too: "once you've seen (she might have said "licked" actually - it was such a long time ago, I hardly recall now... They're not pros to LISTEN TO, y'know...!) and felt up a boob, what else is there, eh?"
Indeed!
A thousand and one nude models unravel only two thousand and two nearly identical blobs... I mean, boobies - and there's nothing to it at all, really!
Nipples are nipples - get over them!
The curves, and alleged artistic way each photog has to represent them - it is all smoke and mirrors, really! Pat Demarchelier is just a Frenchman - and as any other Frenchy, he's a natural-born voyeur, that's all! And natural-born voyeurs are made that way: they NEVER get enough! Now I am not sure what Annie's problem is - but I'd say there should be such a thing as a "lesbovoyeur" too - huh? Kim Carnes would agree...

Really now - are we evolved or not?

If we were made to shed our clothes all the time like that, we'd all have been born (or gotten to grow up) much hairier than we get to be, in due time...!
Besides, you gotta start making sense too, people: you either like and CRAVE the naturally-grown fur (and that clothes-shedding obsession seems to indicate that there sure is an obsession there!) or you want to get rid of every last trace of body hair GOD Has ever Given ya; either through waxing, some high-techy treatment that only estheticians comprehend - or plain ol' shaving! In the latter case, after the job is all done (duh) - YOU NEED TO KEEP THE DAMN CLOTHES ON!
Oh, but that's right - then, so many of these poor starving models (artists & models...?) would be OUT OF A JOB - because shedding their clothes and striking suggestive poses is all they can do, right?

Only the (very) few accessories used in these photo shoots can add any infinitesimal sense of class and romanticism, henceforth - indeed!
